Palworld 1.0 Breeding Changes & Combination Updates

Palworld 1.0 recalculated breeding combinations across the game. Legacy overrides such as Penking and Bushi yielding Anubis were replaced by formula-based results like Sibelyx.

Breeding updates in version 1.0

When Palworld released version 1.0, the underlying breeding calculation system underwent significant table updates. Many player assumptions based on early-access spreadsheets no longer hold in version 1.0.

The most prominent change is the removal of legacy hardcoded override pairs in favor of standard breeding power calculations, altering the outcomes of several well-known early-game breeding routes.

Additionally, special bosses and legendary species have tightened pairing boundaries in the 1.0 game data.

Why Penking and Bushi now produces Sibelyx

In early game versions, Penking paired with Bushi was assigned an override result producing Anubis. In the 1.0 dataset, that override row does not exist.

Without an override, the standard breeding power formula applies: floor((Penking[2070] + Bushi[1560] + 1) / 2) equals 1815. The eligible child species with breeding power nearest to 1815 is Sibelyx with power 1810, differing by only 5 points.

Because Anubis has a breeding power of 480 (a difference of 1335 points), standard formula averaging cannot produce Anubis from Penking and Bushi. The confirmed outcome in version 1.0 is Sibelyx.

Tower Boss and Legendary breeding rules

Version 1.0 enforces strict species pairing for Tower Bosses and legendary Pals. Special encounters such as Zoe & Grizzbolt cannot cross-breed to yield standard species variants.

Legendary Pals including Jetragon, Frostallion, Necromus, and Paladius require matching parents of the identical species to produce their own kind.

Players seeking Anubis or other high-tier species must use verified 1.0 combinations rather than pre-release guides.

Definition
The 1.0 breeding update recalculates breeding outcomes through standard power averaging and adjusted override tables.
Formula
Math.floor((parent1.BreedingPower + parent2.BreedingPower + 1) / 2)
Example
Penking (2070) + Bushi (1560) -> average 1815 -> Sibelyx (1810).
Exceptions
Tower bosses and legendary Pals require identical species pairing.
Limitations
Covers species outcomes in the pinned snapshot; does not model passive skills or IVs.
